Television actress Rinku Dhawan, currently seen in the show Anupamaa, is in a happy space in life, confidently balancing work and personal priorities. Rinku who lost her father, went through a divorce and struggled emotionally and financially a few years ago, shares how she has now found peace, purpose and fulfillment as a single mother.
“I’m a single, peaceful woman today. I’m very zen,” she says. “I listen to bhajans and mantras, and I’m deeply into chanting and meditation. That has really helped me — it’s my biggest source of excitement now,” she adds. On co-parenting, she shares that she and her ex-husband and actor
Kiran Karmarkar continue to remain aligned when it comes to their child. “We are absolutely on the same page. We take decisions together, and our son moves between both homes.”
Reflecting on their separation in 2016 and eventual divorce in 2019, Rinku says the journey has shaped her positively. “It’s transitioned beautifully. There have been ups and downs, but I have no regrets. I’m not sorry about anything in my life,” she says.
Speaking about managing life independently, she shares, “Having lived alone for so many years, I’m wearing the pants now. Things have changed hugely for me.” While she acknowledges that sharing responsibilities can be helpful, she is clear that support doesn’t have to come from a romantic relationship. “That someone need not be a boyfriend or husband. It can be anyone. I’m not looking for companionship. For me, it’s a complete waste of time and energy. I’m genuinely happy and peaceful. If something is meant to happen, it will — but I’m not seeking it,” she says.
